About us

  • Born in 1951.
  • British Student Health Officers’ Association from 1951 to 1965.
  • British Student Health Association from 1965 to 1988.
  • British Association of Health Services in Higher Education (BAHSHE) from 1988 to 2011
  • The Student Health Association, 2011 onwards.

CHARITABLE STATUS
Student Health Association Charity no. 253984 – est.1967. The objectives of the Association shall be:

(a) To relieve sickness and to promote the highest possible level of health for the individual and collectively for all who study and work in Universities and Institutions of Higher Education
(b) To advance Health Education

As ancillary to the above mentioned objectives which are hereby declared to be the principal objectives of the Association and for the purpose only of furthering such objectives, and in so far as such things may be done by a body of persons established for charitable purposed only, to do all or any of the following things, namely:

(a) To support those who provide treatment and health education, and their administrative staff, for all who study or work in Universities and Institutes of Higher Education
(b) To promote the highest possible standards of health delivery and education in those Institutions
(c) To raise funds and to invite and receive contributions from any person or persons whatsoever by way of subscriptions, donations and otherwise, provided that the Association shall not undertake any permanent trading activities in raising funds
(d) To organise and sponsor meetings, conferences and study groups and whenever possible to keep records and publish proceedings
(e) To facilitate and monitor research and to publish and disseminate results of that research
(f) To maintain for the benefit of members and the public a resource of publications and archival material relating to Student Health and the Associatio
